The use of (DRIED BLOOD SPOT) DBS specimens for HCV antibody serology testing may be considered in settings where:
- there are no facilities or expertise to take venous whole blood specimens; or
- rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) are not available or their use is not feasible; or
- there are persons with poor venous access (e.g. in drug treatment
programmes, prisons).
