Patients initiating anti-TNF treatment, patients receiving dialysis, patients preparing for an organ or haematological transplant and patients with silicosis should be systematically tested and treated for latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI)

People should be tested and treated for LTBI with strict adherence to human rights and the strongest ethical considerations. For example, positive test results or treatment for LTBI should not affect a person’s immigration status or delay the possibility of immigrating.
