- 1.In order to avoid inadvertent antibiotics administration to women with intact amniotic membranes, antibiotics should not be prescribed unless a definite diagnosis of preterm prelabour rupture of membranes (PPROM) has been made. Therefore, a policy of prescribing antibiotics for women with PPROM should be accompanied by a protocol for reliably diagnosing PPROM.
